SEQUENCES
Before you open the charts:
Remember that headlines are driving markets right now.
Traders everywhere are trying to get a grip on the next move AND trying not to get run over… and that’s exactly why we’re seeing these swings.
Watch the volatility crush and expand.
So what does that mean for us?
It means our size, stops, targets, and regime calibration all need to be on point this week. No excuses…
Take five minutes before you start. Look at the ranges. Look at what’s moving. Adjust accordingly.
During the trade:
Discipline, discipline, discipline.
If you’re in a trade that’s going against you and you don’t have a stop… get out.
Seriously. You can always regroup. The worst trades in headline-driven markets are the ones where someone freezes and hopes it comes back. It might. It also might not. And “might” is not a strategy.
And on the flip side… if you find yourself on the right side of a headline release, consider trailing and riding the move with a tight leash.
We all need a bit of luck sometimes. But some traders maximise it. Others just grab a bit and run.
The Trump Variable:
This one’s worth thinking about…
We know he watches the market like a hawk. He knows the hours. He knows his comments can soothe things. Friday’s bounce off the lows wasn’t an accident, and the timing of that statement was probably deliberate.
And yeah, this isn’t easy to predict. But it’s a variable we’ve never really had to factor in before. The pattern so far has been pretty clear… stock market gets hammered, and the chances of Trump saying something positive go up. He’s fully aware of the effect his words have.
You don’t need to trade around this. But you do need to be aware of it.
Understanding the game being played above you helps you stop getting shaken out by it.
Stay calm, locked in on your strategy, risk-managed, and wait for your play.
The one thing this market is not short of is opportunity… one or two great trades can make a hell of a difference to your week…
