Which Broker has the lowest EUR/USD spread?

EUR USD spreads compared from ten different brokers
I took ten of the top CFD and spread betting brokers and pit them against each other to find the best broker to trade EURUSD with.
Why?
Well, I wanted to see for myself which broker had the tightest spread… but unlike these big comparison sites, I’m a trader who wants the best deal possible. Like you, right?
Because if you’re in the UK and happen to trade… Well be prepared to be bombarded with ads!
Brokers want your business…
“Trade with zero spread” is the common one…
Well, yeah, but you charge a commission on top, so it’s not really zero spread, is it?
Or the classic “Spreads from…”
Mate, no one here is still falling for the ‘from trick’, what’s next? “Everything must go?”
We don’t want headline spreads, we want real-world spreads a real trader would face on a typical trading day.
Anyway… enough trader cynicism. Let’s just find the broker with the lowest EURUSD spread, shall we?
Lowest EUR/USD Spread Method
So my method is pretty simple…
I get ten of the top brokers in the UK (or at least FCA-regulated) load up EUR/USD quotes on one screen, and take a screenshot at a random time of day.
No funny business, just what you or I would do if we saw a setup on EUR/USD. Open the ticket and place the trade.
So, on Wednesday, 29th April 2026, at 15:08 BST I took the screenshot.
And just to be fair here, this was the crossover period between the UK markets being open and the US market open. No data or fast markets, just a typical Wednesday afternoon trading the Euro.
I selected these brokers:
- CMC Markets
- IG
- SpreadEx
- City Index
- Plus 500
- Pepperstone
- Capital
- Forex
- Oanda
- FXCM

Lowest EUR/USD Spreads
Right, so that’s my method cleared up. In no particular order, just how they were on my screen, these were the results.
Oh, and it’s worth mentioning these were spreads with NO additional commission, so either a spread betting quote on EUR/USD or a CFD with no extra fees (again to keep things fair), and I’ve kept things in pips, just because it’s Forex…
City Index 0.8 pips
FXCM 0.8 pips
IG 0.6 pips
Capital 0.7 pips
Pepperstone 0.6 pips
SpreadEx 0.6 pips
Forex 0.8 pips
Plus 500 0.9 pips
Oanda 0.8 pips
CMC 0.5 pips
Quick extra note: Capital quote the spread as 0.00007, whereas everyone else uses 0.x, doesn’t matter. It’s just the way Euro is quoted, eg: 1.16916
Ok, so I know some brokers like to do the old variable spread thing. Now, I don’t know why the spread needs to vary on a dull Wednesday in one of the most liquid forex pairs on the planet… but it is what it is.
So I also observed the spreads for about a minute after taking the screenshot.
Here’s what I found…
Oanda ranged from 0.7 – 0.9 pips
City Index 0.9 – 1.1 pips
Forex 0.9 – 1.2 pips
Others were fixed (or at least didn’t change whilst I was watching them… maybe they do change at 1 AM or something)
EUR/USD broker spreads ranked best to worst
Ok, let’s put these brokers in order: Remember, my rules are the spread I see on the screenshot is the spread.
- CMC 0.5 pips
- Pepperstone, SpreadEx and IG 0.6 pips
- Capital 0.7 pips
- Oanda, Forex, City Index and FXCM 0.8 pips
- Plus 500 0.9 pips
(The top spot wouldn’t have changed even with the variable spreads observation.)
CMC is the winner here with 0.5 pips
A mere 0.1 pips better than the second-place brokers, but a win is a win.
Surprisingly, the difference between top and bottom was nearly double, which is wild…
That 0.4 pip difference between best and worst might not be as much as some others I’ve tested, but at say £10/pip twice a day, it’s £160 a month, nearly 2 grand a year. It’s not going to make you rich, but I’d rather have it in my pocket than my brokers!
Oh, and I should mention that I also logged into my account the next day to check CMC’s EUR/USD spread. Albeit an hour later at 16:20 BST… the spread was still 0.5 pips.
Good job, lads.

So, that was it, of the ten brokers I tested on a typical Wednesday afternoon trading forex, the lowest spread UK broker on EUR/USD was CMC at 0.5 pips.

Now, of course, do your own research and check the spreads yourself. Brokers can change spreads with market conditions or just because…, but those were my findings on Wednesday, 29th April 2026 at 15:08 BST
